The largest planet, Jupiter and its HUGE impact on the 12 houses of our natal chart or kundli!
Jupiter is the largest planet in our known solar system and perhaps one of the most significant in our horoscope or kundli. Jupiter is considered to be the Praana (life-source) or Jeev-kaarak of our existence. Jupiter signifies growth, wisdom and progress. Jupiter is the ruler of both Sagittarius and Pisces. Additionally, Jupiter is debilitated (weakened) in Capricorn and exalted (heightened) in Cancer. The exact opposite arrangement is true for Mars where it is debilitated in Cancer and exalted in Capricorn. One can understand why this would be the case. Mars is associated with energy, aggression and instant action whereas Jupiter is linked to sagacity, calmness and taking any action only after careful consideration and evaluation.
Jupiter is generally considered to be a positive planet unless actions in the past life have led to a bad Jupiter in this life. Jupiter is considered to be the Guru in our life. Therefore, Thursday or the day of Jupiter (just as Saturday is the day of Saturn and Sunday is the day of the Sun) is called Guruvar in the Hindi. In the ancient Indian teaching system also known as the Gurukul a child’s ability to learn and grow was determined and based on the placement of Jupiter in the natal chart.
